Organic Community Markets

I could never buy supermarket vegies again after shopping direct from the organic farmers at my local organic markets.

They are held each each Sunday morning at a local high school.

Hot last Sunday morning so everyone under the shade.

Always time for a good chat with the local growers.

More friendly growers and hungry buyers.

Am not buying so many vegetables since growing my own but love the coffee and chat under the shade tents.

There is always a lively exchange of ideas going on. Many of the people are cancer survivors and share their latest discoveries for staying well.

My weekly trips to these `Organic Community Markets' motivate my own sustainable journey.

As well as food I also buy organic bedding, clothes, makeup, seedlings, mulch and manure at the markets, and lots more.

Buying direct from growers or producers you learn all about a product and how it is grown or created. There is a feeling of connection between seller and buyer and the exchange is simple and honest.

For me this type of shopping is the way of the future, particularly as peak oil will be pushing us all to live in new ways.

This post is part of I am a Food RENEGADE! where you can learn about the new ways of eating challenging our old thinking, Photobucket where you will find innovative green thinking and Photobucket where you can see how others live around the world.

I love the summers when the farmer's markets are available because it is expensive to get organic vegs at the super market..This is important. Thank you for posting to Thinking Green...Michelle
