A Sustainable House

My home is an old house made of hardwood and with a tin roof. It was built by the Australian Government fifty years ago and they really knew how to build well. I love it for the honesty and simplicity of its construction.

When I first brought my home however nothing had been done inside for years. The living area was several small rooms which were very hot.

The first thing I did was open up these rooms and to add louvre windows to the front of the building to catch the breezes and bring the outside air inside.

Here is my living area today, open and light and cool.

The kitchen is also full of light and air.
