SEW, Plastic and Yeskandoo

Amidst the lush greenery at Gold Coast Permaculture, 270 Ferry Rd the fortnightly meeting of SEW (Strong Empowered Women) gathered at 10am for a two hour discussion of contemporary concepts.

Amongst the topics discussed were Biodynamic and Moon planting, healing colors and of special interest to myself the Relationships between Plastics and Food, and the The Yeskandoo Campaign to create a life less plastic.

Discussing the the latest ideas from informed sources while drinking herbal teas and being served delicious and healthy snacks (thank you Lyn) is an enjoyable way to learn how to create a healthier lifestyle and planet.

Tania from Yeskandoo recommended further sources of information on the dangers of plastics in our environment including The 5 Gyres Organization.

Other members of the group including myself offered ways to avoid using plastic in your life.

Some concepts that all left with were to stop using cling wrap, to buy in glass instead of plastic, to stop buying tinned food, to get rid of plastic kettles and in general to eliminate using plastic wherever possible.

Creative solutions were also given to recycle plastic already owned.

Further discussions at SEW will include Non-Violent Communication on Feb 25th, Cooking without gluten on March 11th, homemade beauty products on March 25th and Soap Making and herbal remedies on April 8th.

SEW is an open group and all women and children are welcomed.
